Yes, if you can afford it it is a great camcorder. It is a entry level professional camcorder. A lot of wedding videographers have that model.

The Canon GL2 has excellent SD quality.
The success of this camcorder series and the GL1 built the basis of Canon’s current professional camcorders. The GL2 is still used to record several shows and some movies going direct to dvd. Discovery Networks still broadcasts video recorded by the GL2 series especially on their Animal Planet channel.
The best thing is that as old as this camera system is, Canon still provides support for it. Many individuals and groups still provide advice, help, and training for the GL2 series. You can also find a myriad of extra devices and options to help record certain situations. We do not know how much longer all this support will last, but if this is the camera you have your heart set on, it is a very good choice.
